I am a middle aged man (if I live to be 100) whose formative years were spent in the 60's & 70's in a world that centered its identity and ideals around manufacturing. You went to church on Sunday because that was expected. That never sat well with me, because I remember asking questions that started with "why do....". I was planning on becoming a priest until I was about 12 and I learned what celibacy meant. I had not experienced carnal knowledge at that age, but I sure as hell knew that I didn't want to leave that out of my life. Another crucial event that I was unaware of but he a profound impact was the Second Vatican Council, which took place 1963-65. The Reader's Digest version of the changes were: The Catholic Church went from a Pay, Pray & Obey practice to that of taking responsibility for your faith. Unfortunately, the church made a philosophical change but didn’t give out specific directions on how to achieve this new faith life. As a result, I was in a church that now taught about the love of Jesus, but not give us allot of instructions or directions of how we were to be responsible. I am happy to say that 40 years later that there has been progress to help guide us as Catholic believers. I have still questions and struggles with my faith some of which will be fuel for future entries.

One reference point that I want to define is:swiss cheese - 1.a cheese that has allot of holes in it ,2. the effect of examining all sides of an issue only to find holes in every point of view. This will be phrase that I will use often.
Kind of looks like Carol Wotyla wasn't pranking after all.
